About Us

Mission-driven.
Kentucky-focused.
Built on trust.

Kentucky Education Freedom is a Kentucky 501(c)(3) nonprofit and scholarship granting organization (SGO) built to connect generous donors with Kentucky families who want more options for their children's education.

Our mission

We believe every Kentucky family should have real options for their child's education, regardless of income. As an approved Scholarship Granting Organization under the federal Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC), we exist to connect willing donors with Kentucky students — transparently, efficiently, and without the runaround.

What we do

Receive donations

We accept donations from taxpayers who want to claim the federal EFTC credit and support local students.

Verify eligibility

We confirm that scholarship recipients meet the income, school-enrollment, and residency requirements set by federal law.

Award scholarships

We direct donor contributions to eligible Kentucky K-12 students for approved education expenses.

Status & transparency

Kentucky Education Freedom is organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Kentucky and is already listed as an approved Scholarship Granting Organization. Kentucky opted in to the federal EFTC program through House Bill 1, effective March 2026.

Federal law holds every SGO to the same standards, and we meet them: at least 90% of donations received must go directly to scholarship awards, qualified contributions must be kept in separate, segregated accounts, and we must serve at least 10 students who don't all attend the same school. Scholarships are never awarded to our substantial donors, officers, directors, or their immediate family — federal rules bar it. SGOs also face annual certification and audit requirements. We will publish our financials and annual reporting here as they become available.
